Official Fact:

NO physical documents are required to be shown or submitted during the Census.

Census is entirely based on self-declaration. Enumerators record responses provided verbally by the head or responsible member of the household. No physical proof or verification documents are demanded.

Myth / Rumor:

Individual census responses can be shared with tax authorities or police for investigations.

Official Fact:

Individual census data is strictly confidential and protected by the Census Act, 1948.

Under Section 11 and Section 15 of the Census Act, 1948, individual census records cannot be accessed by any agency, nor can they be produced as evidence in a court of law. Only aggregated statistical tables are published.
